Hi,my name is Alan Woodcock.I have been bird-watching in the area for nearly fifty years and (bird ringing)since 1980.I hope to keep up to date sightings of wildlife I have seen (mainly birds)with occasional diary entries of past times.
I last saw the drake Scaup on January 17th.As far as I know the Goosander is still present (photo) taken on the 27th
29th,Capel fleet (Corn Bunting,waders and Geese,Leysdown.
The Scaup is still present on the Streamside lake,along with the Goosander on Abbey Meads.
My 2022 New Hythe bird total has now reached (53),Green Woodpecker (2) Redwing (1) Lesser Redpoll (1) Siskin (4) Little Grebe and Snipe (3) were added this morning,I still have not seen House Sparrow,but they can be tricky to find at New Hythe.

Bright and mild (09:00 - 12:00)
The male Scaup still being present on the Streamside lake was a great kick start to 2022.As for Goosander,another bird was seen on Abbey Mead,At the same time I was watching the Streamside bird.
My total for the morning was 42.It was nice to finally catch up with Redpoll.I saw 3 birds feeding in the Allders along the northern end of Brookland lake.Where I also saw singles of Blackcap (male) and Chiffchaff.A Kingfisher,2 Grey Wagtails and more chiffchaffs 2,were seen along the Mill Stream.
