 Common Tern (2) birds

May 7th 14th 15th and 16th ( New Hythe)

 A Marsh Harrier flew over NE on April 28th.A Cuckoo was heard on the 30th,single Red Kites were seen on May 2nd and 6th,on which day four Hobby were present.L R Plover,Oystercatchers,up to six and Shelduck (2 pairs) continue to be seen on the river.No Swifts as yet.

Two re-trapped Nightingales,both from 2020,one being a Juvenile and the other an adult when ringed (west scrub). PHOTO Reed Warbler Hobby  L R Plover  Common Whitethroat  L T Tit  Garden Warbler Blackcap  Nightingale Cuckoo Med Gull Egyptian Geese and Turtle Dove.

Common Tern (Road Island lake,14th,two 15th and 16th) not as common at New Hythe as formerly,excuse the pun.

One adult Med Gull 16th.

I saw my first Swift on the 13th (one) two on 16th..

One Turtle Dove on wires above the Sunken marsh this morning (15th),two Cuckoo calling and four L R Plover on the river.The Plovers must be frustrated to see their ideal nesting habitat covered up each time with the rising tide.

From my notes for 1984 --May 10th,150 Turtle Doves at Burham marsh.The birds were feeding around cattle feeding stations,which are no longer there.
