August 18th (New Hythe)
My ringing totals so far this year.Particularly for Blackcap and Nightingale, are way down on previous years. The cold start to the breeding season, may well have had an effect on breeding productivity.
Thirteen visits between 08 07 21 and 18 08 21,produced only 24 Blackcaps and 5 Nightingales.
Eleven visits between 30 06 20 and 20 08 20,produced 43 Blackcaps and 17 Nightingales.
Eleven visits between 08 07 19 and 19 08 19,produced 66 Blackcaps and 15 Nightingals.
The same ride, using two nets was used in all years (West Scrub).
The Peak month for catching Blackcaps is September,so hopefully things might look up.As for Nightingales, its July, most will have departed by the second week of August.
