0730-915.overcast,clearing,still,chilly first thing.As I walked around the lakes this morning it felt just right for the first Redwings or Fieldfare of the autumn,but no such luck.

river,low - Water Rail 1,G B b Gull 1,Canada Goose 1,Teal 11,Heron 4 and Mallard 44,which was the most of the latter species I have seen along the river in a long while.A Fox was also seen scavenging along the gravel banks.

Abbey Mead - Pochard 5 (3 drakes,2 female) Shoveler 8,Tufted Duck 60+,Wigeon 12 and Gadwall 8.

Railway lake - Mute Swan 2,Tufted Duck 6,Coot 34.

Streamside lake - Tufted Duck 25,Coot 30,Mallard 6, G C Grebe 2 adult,2 young,Cormorant 3.

Other birds seen were - Jay 6,Chiffchaff 2,Green Woodpecker 2 and Great Spot 1.A duck Teal was seen on the wader scrape.
During the afternoon I popped back to the lakes and had the Green Sandpiper on the scrape again and a Painted Lady and Peacock in the east scrub area.
