New Hythe,October 6th,

8:am - 9:am,weather,overcast,drizzle at times,light south.
I parked by the sewage works entrance and made my way across to Abbey Mead. The Green Sandpiper,Snipe and Teal were all still present on the wader scrape and on passing the Little Tesco lake a Cetti`s called. The West scrub was rather quite with just a few Great Tits,Blue Tits and one singing Robin being evident. As I reached the East scrub (which has a more open habitat)things improved,a Green Woodpecker flew up and 4 Chaffinch came over heading west.As I went further in I noticed some very flighty Song Thrushes darting between the bushes(probably about 10) although I looked very hard I couldn't`t find any Redwing amongst them.I then found the foraging flock which contained,4 Great Tits,6 Blue Tits,15 Goldfinch,1 Chiffchaff and at least 15 Chaffinch.I also had a very brief snatch of song from a Blackcap.
Abbey Mead - there is now much less surface weed and as a result wildfowl have decreased,I could only find one Wigeon but Little Grebes have increased from two birds to six.
