May 2nd/3rd (New Hythe)





This past week has seen the arrival of more summer visitors.Nightingales now number at least 26 in the Park with 11 east of the railway (Brookland/Abbey Mead) area.Up to two Cuckoo have been seen,8 Sedge Warblers,3 Garden Warblers,good numbers of Common Whitethroats and 2-3 Lesser.Two Hobbies were seen on the 29th and a pair of Garganey on Abbey Mead on the 22nd.

On the morning of the third I counted singing Nightingales again in the Eccles Old factory area and added four more,making a total of 21. 

I saw a nice male Ring Ouzel  feeding in the East scrub during the evening of the 3rd,7pm.
