I walked from the Brookland car-park,following the lake round the eastern edge, past the sunken marsh and Abbey Meads, over the rail, through the east and west scrub and then back along the Mill stream path,by 0900 it was already very warm. Two Goldfinch and a Common Tern were noted in the Brookland area, along with 4 Cetti`s Warbler. At the sunken marsh a female Cuckoo was heard and one Turtle Dove was displaying in the area.Walking through the east scrub a mixed flock of Tits and Warblers was in evidence, about 25 birds in all.The west scrub produced 2 Turtle Dove,2 singing Willow Warbler,2 Jays and one G S Woodpecker.Nightingales were only in evidence by their churring and whistling calls (most if not all have young now).
