February 28th (The Beast From The East continues)

Most of the lakes are now iced over,or partly.I saw the Goosanders yesterday, but there was no sign of them this morning. The Scaup though is still present on Abbey Meads. When this bird first appeared, several months ago,or more, its eye colour was a dull red.It now appears to to be changing to  yellow (age related).
Fieldfare were very noticeable, flying over and about the bushes, but apart from that little has changed.
When I got back home, two Fieldfare had made it into our garden and were feasting on crab apples.

The first Reed Bunting of the winter turned up in the garden on the 21st,but surprisingly, there has been no more sightings and we are still waiting for our first Blackcap.

February 26th (New Hythe)

The bird with the yellow stain on its belly,is the long stayer. While I was photographing the Goosander,I saw a Kingfisher, male Sparrowhawk and a Water Rail.I also had a look at Abbey Meads and various other lakes. To see if any new birds had arrived with the onset of the cold weather, but with no luck.Hopefully by the end of the week,it will happen.

February 8th (Godmersham)

This morning,I finally caught up with some of last autumns eruptive Hawfiches.I saw at least six  feeding in the grounds of Godmersham.church.and along the lane, which runs past it.The birds were feeding in the yew and hornbeam trees, which are plentiful in the area.

Although it was nice and bright.I didn`t quite manage to get into the right position to take a decent photo.I think I need to go back at some stage..

While I was there,other birds that I saw are as follows - Grey Wagtail,Common Buzzard,Nuthatch,Goldfinch,Greenfinch,Mistle Thrush,Goldcrest,G S Woodpecker,Moorhen and Chaffinch.
